I use skype all the time and i think it still much better to have a separete headphone set.. You dont hear the noise around you and you can change the volume easy. You dont have to buy an expensive one

I have a Dell 3000 and I'm pretty sure it has no built-in microphone. I use a headset or sometimes the microphone on my (cheap) webcam. Either works well in Skype.

Use Programs | Accessories | Entertainment | Sound Recorder and talk loudly, then play it back. If you got a good recording, then you have a microphone.

built in microphones are pretty useless. Get a seperate mic, or even a headset......a cheap one could set you back 50p ~ £1 on ebay or somesuch site.

I think it would be in the control panel (start settings control panel, or start control panel) under audio devices or speech and audio devices, hope this helps! :)
