Just saw a study on this and was wondering what you thought.

I see this all the time especially at restaurants. It is disgusting. You mean to tell me your going to go to the bathroom, grab that dirty door handle and then go eat?

Call me OCD but I like being clean. I ALWAYS Wash my hands whether I'm at home or in a restaurant. And when I leave the restroom at the restaurant I make sure I have that paper towel with me to grab that handle. I also carry around the waterless hand cleanser (Purell).

I guess that's why I never get sick. It's August and I haven't had a cold yet this year (knock wood).

Just a simple survey:

Gender:
Age:

When you go to the bathroom (whether at home or out), do you wash your hands when you are done and why or why not?

Female-29 It's not OCD!
CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS-William Shakespeare
He must've known something to! Germs have always been around, and with the advantage we have now there is no excuse not to "want" to be clean. I don't see the germs but to be on the safe side, I keep myself clean. I think some people are lazy and they only want to fix a problem after it is magnified instead of preventing a problem by simple habits such as this. If they don't wash their hands-they don't respect their body or good health, so where do I fit in that picture? When you think about it, you are effected in some way if you don't take precautions because of their decision. Of course they won't respect mine either, especially those invites over for food--did they wash or didn't they? Being super safe is no a crime. Good question!

I am of course female and I am 19 years old, and yes even at home I wash my hands when I am done. And I owe that to my mother who is an RN and very health cautious as a matter of fact you sound just like her! But every since I was little she always stressed on the different bacteria and things that you can get from not washing and I just never wanted to catch something that comes from not being clean. I mean come on how embarrassing would that be to go the hospital with some kind of bacteria from being dirty. The doctors and nurse's would laugh at you behind your back.

As a mom, i'm continually washing my fingers. i do no longer continually wash my fingers in a public restroom although. I carry a hand sanitizer with me and use it after leaving the restroom. I also carry moist wipes in my automobile. the quite a few faucets contained in the accepted public restrooms are far better scary than what might want to probable be on my fingers after wiping myself. i'm truly a kind of human beings that isn't contact some thing contained in the restroom and waits for some different person to come back in so i will use my foot to capture the door to get out. The germs on your own body, and on your own residence are far a lot less risky than maximum human beings imagine. Your body grows acquainted with them and builds up an immunity. Hospitals regularly deliver sufferers living house to get over surgical operation because the germs at your residence are better suited on your body to take care of than the unusual ones contained in the well being facility. there are the variety of tremendous number of ailments at present that you'll capture from strangers. you could keep your fingers sparkling. some human beings only produce different recommendations of doing it.

Male, 32. I almost never wash my hands, after using bathroom included. I am also very rarely sick, even when those around me are. I am totally against using hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap. There have been studies done that show that using these products can attribute to having food allergies. I believe that my immune system is like a muscle- the more I use it, the better it performs.

Male -23 Washing my hands doesn't get them clean so i save water, paper, time, and effort by not washing them. I do wash them if I poop on them or pee on them. That's it. So about once a week.

Look how many creatures exist in filth. Dirt don't hurt.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT ADDED HOURS LATER - I see I'm in the vast minority on this so I feel the need to add comments. If you've washed your hands your entire life, you have no way of knowing that it helps anything! Don't speak as if you do. Everything you touch is basically filthy. As a matter of fact, a sponge or wash cloth makes for an ideal bacterial breeding ground. And so does your mouth. Do you kiss people? That's much more filthy than not washing your hands...If anything you should wash your hands before you touch your penis, not afterward! Gotta protect yourself! Real men grab their sandwich with a grease covered hand and chomp away. You don't see a place to wash your hands in a portapotty do you? That means construction workers don't wash their hands. Do you see them dying of diseases at an alarming rate? Of course not. Stop washing your damn hands and stop worrying about whether or not people do. Only wash them if there is poop on them.

PS: I always tear down those employees must wash hands signs and flush them down the toilet because workers are not children. I'm sweet.

I wash my hands at home after I use the bathroom but in public washrooms I don't. I just use purell after I leave the washroom, I'm not touching a thing in there, expeshally the taps on the siink! people could have pee on there hands and then touch that tap! I'm not touching that! I also flush with my foot ;)

well if you are really paranoid how do you know the fork you are eating with is really clean and someone in back didnt stick it in their butt, or the plate you are eating on is really clean i mean think about. Yes i wash my hands but to use a paper towel to open a door or to worry about germs constantly is crazy. how do you know everything at home is really clean, never really know everything in this life just live it and stop worrying so much.

OK, some of the answers you've already gotten are scaring me here..... :)

I always wash my hands. I'm 43 and female.

My sister used to not wash hers in public restrooms because she said she felt dirtier washing them in those places than not washing them at all. But I finally convinced her otherwise, thank goodness. Her reason may be why some people don't wash, however.

Because they are filthy. I like to call them on it when I see it.

Be sure to use a paper towel when grabbibg the Bathroom Handle in public.

M / 29

I wash b4 and after... why? My hands have been out doing stuff all day while my member has been cleanly tucked away... so what do you think is dirtier, my hands or my willy???
