the gay molestation theory is a favorite of the x gays and they try to put that out as fact to the media just like they put out as fact that they can reverse homosexuality, when in Truth all they succeed in doing is repressing the person sexuality and damaging their psych.

The way that homosexuality is treated in our culture as either a comedic device or a psychological disfunction makes it no surprise that people would have strange ideas about it. There's virtually no safe public forum for discussion of sex, much less sex that deviates from the procreative marital conservative standpoint; I'd say there's less blame to go to the hetero community at large than the people who attempt to limit our perception of what's "right" and acceptable in a world that's outlived the Victorian age.
It's unfair to gays and lesbians, but the best thing for everyone would be increased personal awareness; making it a personal issue makes everyone think again about the misconceptions or rumors they've heard.

I just think most straight people are ill informed. I have so many gay friends that sometimes I find it hard to think that people can be homophobic and then I think back to when I was 13 or so and thought of gays as comical John Inman-esque fellows who enjoy "bumming" and lesbians as being topless models squeezing each other's boobs. This view was not ignorant, in that I was not ignoring the facts, they were just not presented to me in an accessable way.
I think that if homosexulity was explained properly to kids when they were young then there would be a lot less stupid ideas about gay people.

I missed that one! We're not all completely ga ga, y'know... I ask an entirely different sort of daft question. My problem is keeping a straight face when I read all the answers from people who have missed the point somewhat... bless 'em. I think this site may be emitting a high pitch noise that attracts thickies.
Edit - like the guy below me here... wonder which tabloid he got his data from? My bet is the Daily Mail.

Most straight people I have known do not think like that and find such questions similarly 'daft'.
However, there are still people out there with such bizzare, and often offensive (nonheterosexuality a product of molestation...), views on the world. Unfortunate and boring.

"I may be ignorant, but I ain't stupid."--Loretta Lynn, "Coal Miner's Daughter."
Straights, I think, have questions raised because they've heard *just enough* about us to get questions raised but not enough to get them answered. And then there are "values and morality" groups that work very, very, very hard to keep the misinformation flowing. (Ex-gay ministries, in particular, still ride that "molestation" horse hard.) So in a way, I can't blame them, even if I get frustrated.
They ask here because it can be very uncomfortable to ask their neighbor or co-worker, and that's just as well, because neighbor or co-worker would likely get *really* pissed.
Or they're just mean. Whatever.

Sad as it may seem-some Gays and lesbians were molested as children but if it had an effect on their later life style is unknown. I can vouch for that.
But as for all Gays and Lesbians being molested and turning gay because of it, no.

It does happen and many a girl wants nothing to do with men as a result of it. This is a documented issue.
To say that is the cause of all it not valid, of course, but to indicate that you can turn an individual with terror is valid and documented.
Most girls who are molested, however, tend to become pole dancers rather than lesbians. They also have mean boyfriends.
Again, this doesn't imply all pole dancers are molsted girls. It's just fact that there is a stronge likelyhood molestation occured.

I think many straight people can't fathom that a person could be gay without having had some horrible childhood trauma that led them there.
But, if you think about it, that stereotype has been perpetuated over the years by some gay people who publicly state that they were molested or abused in some way, and seem to imply that it had something to do with their sexual preference.

Whats the difference between you saying straights and us saying gays? NONE so dont apologise.
Some people cant understand that other people can just be born gay with no reason so they have to invent one and because they think gay is seedy and wrong they have to invent a seedy and wrong reason for it.
