That is normal. The hormone made by the placenta during pregnancy is progesterone. Look at the word: "Pro" is "good, or "for", and "gest" is pregnancy. So the hormone is named to give you a good pregnancy, make you tired, so you dont' feel like going out and paving a road and risk a miscarriage. Isn't God awesome?

Just take a nap w/ your feet up when you're tired. The overly tired feelign will past come the 2nd trimester or so.

A well balanced diet and take walks at least one a day. Fresh air revitalizes the mind and body. You are probably on vitamins already so you are getting that extra boost. Try looking at what you are eating. Iron deficiency is major among most pregnant women. Try to eat more meats(fish and beef are good for it), beans, nuts. All are high iron. Make sure that they are balanced with fruits and vegetables. They carry other essential vitamins that help your body process and take in the iron.
Stay in a positive mood. Stress will ware you out fast. Emotional stress is more debilitating than any physical labor known to man. So stay happy... or just not mad, sad or angry...jealous etc. you get the point lol
If this doesn't help check with your doctor about it. You may just be naturally tired from the pregnancy and lack of sleep that some women suffer because they're pregnant.
PS. Sometimes you can sleep to much. This will also cause you to be drowsy. Try stretching and that walk outside. Both help to rejuvenate the body. As does a little cool water on your face.

Girl, you are going to be tired right now. There's nothing much you can do about that except make sure you get enough sleep at night and if possible take a nap during the day. You are going to spend a lot of your time being awake after the baby is born, so rest now often while you can! Make sure to take your vitamins too and get your iron checked when you are at the doctors office and make sure to tell the doctor about you being tired. If it is extreme and all the time no matter how much you sleep the dr. needs to know!

i'm not sure what you do for a living, but i sit down at a desk all day with a computer. hence i'm online during work hours.

get up and walk around every 30 minutes or so. drink some ice cold water to wake you up. let your HR department know so they don't assume you are slacking off. (pregnancy is legally considered a disability like cigarette smoking and if they can walk off every hour to go kill themselves then we can walk away from our desk to keep from falling asleep) have a bite of a snack every so often even if it's only a slice of an apple just to keep your energy up.
Ask your doctor about caffine intake. I know my doctor allowed half coffee half milk (cafe latte) a few times a day. Kind of like mentally tricking your body into cup of coffee.
and since you are a first time mom, that means you can go home after work and take a nap. even if it's only an hour, DO IT.
try to go to bed just a bit early. your body is an automatic pilot and is making a human being entirely from stratch.

I can only say three words: Hydration, Hydration, Hydration...

It is always a factor in these cases. Drink lots of water/fruit juice (not too sugary) and avoid coffee, tea, soft drinks, and caffeine (even in foods). Most people in the world (especially the U.S., who consume too much of the above) go around day-to-day in a condition of dehydration, which leads to fatigue and suseptability to colds and other sicknesses. I have proven this to be true (in my own life) for over 20 years, practicing what I'm preaching! (IOW, I never get seriously sick for any amount of time)
I probably average close to a gallon a day of intake>the minimum formula is one-half your body weight (in ounces) per day.

Make sure that you are well hydrated. Take small cat naps. Even at work. You should have a couple of 15 minute breaks a day, use them to close your eyes and relax for a few minutes.

Congratulations, mama. Unfortunately, there is nothing to do but nap when you can. I used to nap at lunch and smack at my desk. When you have energy, do what you can. This will go for after childbirth as well. Take care.
