Equations:

Lc + Lf = 600 and Lc/Lf = 0.05
Tc + Tf = 60 and Tc/Tf = 0.20

(where Lc, for example, is the same as X...just a single variable...not L times c)

After I tried solving them, I got the answers of

Lc= 28.57
Lf = 571.42
Tf = 10
Tc = 50

However, my prof told me that his figures for X and Y were even, and that all my numbers were wrong. Can anyone shed some light on where I'm going wrong?

This is part of the Rybczynski Box Diagram I'm doing for my economics class. You can see the graph here if it helps:

Starting from the top (and going clockwise), the intercepts on the graph (with the axies) are Lf, Tf, Lc and Tc.

1) Lc + Lf = 600
2) Lc/Lf = 0.05

Solve equation 2 for Lc

Lc = .05Lf

Replace Lc in equation 1 with .05Lf

.05 Lf + Lf = 600
1.05Lf = 600
Lf = 600/1.05 = 571.4285

Lc = .05(571.4285) = 28.5714

I get the same as you did, so something is amiss here?

Tc + Tf = 60 and Tc/Tf = 0.20

.2Tf + Tf = 60
1.2Tf = 60
Tf = 50

Tc = .2(50) = 10

The same as you, except you switched the variables.

Because Lc/Lf = .05 we know that Lf is 20x greater then Lc. Therefore Lc = .05Lf and .05Lf + Lf = 600. Lf = 571.04 and Lc = 28.57.

Tc/Tf = .20, therefore we know that Tf is 5x greater then Tc. Therefore Tc = .2Tf and .2Tf + Tf = 60. Tf = 50 and Tc = 10.

Lc and Lf are correct.
Tf= 50.
Tc= 10.
(just got them backwards.)

Lc=.05*Lf
Lc+Lf=600
.05Lf+Lf=600
Lf=600/1.05=571.42
Lc=.05*600/1.05=28.57

Tc=.2Tf
Tc+Tf=60
.2Tf+Tf=60
Tf=60/1.2=50
Tc=.2*50=10

the respond is 7. The multiplication comes first from left to precise. So once you do the multiplication you have 6-0+2/2. next you do the branch because of the fact it comes until now addition and subtraction in PEMDAS so which you're able to get 6-0+a million. So then you particularly resolve ?
