Crouch and Defoe, why change just because an out of form Rooney is available, he doesn't score that many when fit (11 in 33) so McClaren should leave well alone as Crouch has scored 12 in 13 matches and loves playing alongside the smaller/quicker man. Not a bad player to come off the bench thou! talk about changing a match.

If every player were available I would have a fit Dean Ashton with a fit Michael Owen. Of the strikers in the current squad, I guess I would have to go with Crouch and Rooney – even though one is playing well above his level (nice goal in Europe though) and the other will never realise the potential everyone says that he has. With the exception of Euro 2004 in Portugal, when has Wayne Rooney ever done it for club or country.

Andy Johnston and Wayne Rooney.
Johnston is the hottest striker in the Premiership and you can never rule out Rooney to get a goal. Providing they are both fit that is.

without doubt, Jimmy Greaves & Brian Clough. Possibly the most naturally gifted goalscorers of our, or any time.
Present day, has to be Crouch & Defoe, wiv Rooney just playing behind

Peter Crouch and Andy johnson with Rooney playing the withdrawn midfielder/striker role that he seems to favor. And that he plays better.
