Technology is a science, engineering applies the science to physical realities. Anytime a word ends with -ology it is a science.

Technology is the means people use to change their environment. Engineering employs science and often time other technologies to make technology.

In other words, engineering is the method of which technology is made.

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for a useful purpose. Engineering involves building and use of engines, machines and structures, it uses both science and technology.

technology oftern refers to the type of industry it is , whereas engineering can mean the type of job within that industry... that's the 'normal' way of referring that i'm familiar with.... but having said that, there is an industry referred to as "engineering"!!! (eg., companies that build big things usually, such as bridges/roads/buildings....

technology firms are folks like intel, cisco, microsoft.... if they say "information technology", then that's different... there they mean systems type firms, either those that develop software applications, or those that implement them (eg consulting firms)....
