I don't believe they make them anymore, but I have one in perfect condition (green-colored glass) and I think it might be worth something. It's kind of bell shaped with threads on the inside. It also has the year on it. I believe they protected/insulated whatever is at the top of electrical poles.

AS others have said, the correct name is insulators. Your green glass one is probably worth no more than five bucks max at a flea market, ten bucks at a retail Antique shop. Green and clear ones are the most common colors, and the rarest color ones seem to be the pinkish color ones, those might be worth a twenty in a Antique shop.

They are very common, and can be found at many flea markets and the like. If your insulator had any defects like most seem to, then it might be worth a buck or two tops!

My advice, turn it into a neat paperweight or shelf object or give it to a friend or loved one as a unique gift if you don't want it.

PS... To get it sparkling clean, put in through a dishwasher cycle, that's what I do with my insulators after they get dusty, and they look very sparkly afterwards!
