I think the $$ would be better spent on a future college education.

Wow! Is this a Quinceanera? I read about these parties when I studies Spanish in high school.
$16,000 is a LOT of money. Are your parents planning on having a lot of relatives over too? There is more involved than just spending the money, I think.
Talk it over with your parents. Maybe they can "scale" down the party and put some of the money in a college fund. Will you be receiving presents or money as gifts, too?
A car is a big investment. You will need insurance, too. Think about that, too. The younger you are, the more expensive the insurance will be.
It's wonderful to have parents who are willing to put on such a party for you.

I just spent $300 on my son's first Birthday party and that was even too much! Just tell her you don't want the party and you'd rather save the money for college or a car. It's YOUR Birthday!

to much. Save some of the money. Invite some of you family you deal with and close friend. You need the money for later. For a car or your study. Think about it.

If your mother has 16,000 to waste (and I really mean WASTE) on a party for you then I don't think there will be a problem when it comes time to get you a car.

if it's a family tradition then you have to follow it but there are better things you can do with 16000 dollars.
