The router still has to be plugged into the filter cos its not that part thats wireless. I have the netgear router, and I have the router itself plugged into the filter downstairs. I have my pc upstairs (wireless connection) and I use my laptop and palm pilot all over the house.

firstly plug the ethernet cable into the router - use a filter for your telepnone and router (telephone - not ethernet) cable - connect to the net through this - look on the router at the back and there should be a http:// address normaly 192.168.0.1 a user name and password - type this http;//192 etc into your address bar and it will take you to your routers configuration page
look on the left for wireless setting (click) and in there will be a tick box to make your router wireless save and close
remove ethernet cable and hay presto wireless fun (as long as you have a usb wifi adaptor or wifi pci card installed)

Depends which router you bought - not all Netgear routers have wireless capability.
The 2 cables are:
- one to connect your router to your broadband service (ie into the filter)
- one to connect the router to your PC

you need a splitter on your phoneline and you need to make sure that you actually have either a broadband modem or that your router doubles as one (instead of your product only being a wireless router).
