She is just ignorant. Like many ignorant people, it is easy for her to be mis-led. It reminds me of the saying, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance".

As a Christian and a Harry Potter fan, I can honestly say that there are some great correlations between HP and the Good Book. It's all a matter of perspective and reading with an open, focused mind.
Unfortunately not everyone does so, both when reading the Bible and works of fiction. And yes, there are even people who are "devout Christians" like this lady who do not read the Bible with an open mind. I believe that every word in the Good Book is true and relevant, but cannot be twisted or used as an agenda to condemn the world. It must be applied to the culture that we're in, whenever that is.

There are fanatics everywhere. It is not just the Christians. If people must start censoring their imagination then we will be a society of very dull and useless people.
We have an imagination for a good reason, it allows us to escape the problems of day to day life. Reading is the greatest form of education there is, for if you can read, you can do almost anything.
People "with good intentions" have been given too large of a voice. They have taken the innocence of childhood and turned it into some sort of radical quest of purification.
Cartoons are mentally harming, books of fantasy are evil, playing cops and robbers encourages crime, playing cowboys and Indians is racial discrimination, playing dress up makes a little girl too provocative later on....... my gracious the list could go on forever. All of these stupid ideas have made being a child almost impossible.

The list of banned books is a strange list indeed. This is just someone looking for her 15 minutes of fame, and cashing in on the Harry Potter craze. My family enjoys the HP books and movies, so I share your opinion that these people are just plain nuts.
About the Bible...
Christians do not kill people over the Bible, you are confusing Christians with Muslims who kill people over the Koran. People do kill in the name of their "religion" but not since the Dark Ages (and in civilized countries) have Christians killed in the name of their "religion".

I read about the Harry Potter ban too. I completely agree that this woman is crazy. JK Rowling has turned millions of people on to reading-especially children who never read much before. The books are brilliant and I cant see what harm they're doing.

That is funny. I can understand that people have personal opinions about whether or not they will let their children read Harry Potter, but our personal opinions don't give us the right to inflict them on others. I don't really see what you mean about the bible, but yeah, I think this lady's a little batty.

That woman is an idiot.
In the article I read, they also eliminateed funding for Spanish books, for fear that illegals may benefit from them. Yah, that's a great idea. Let's limit our perspective to all english, all Chrisitan. Are they gonna ban tacos next just in case there are illegals who are hungry around the corner? Brilliant.

There will always be lunatics like her. She has evil thoughts so she tries to hide her shortcomings by pointing the finger elsewhere. Intelligent people need to make sure she doesn't win.

It nice to hear from other Christians that understand the nature of the Bible and how to apply it to the modern world.
