My daughter had her tonsils removed 2 years ago because she kept getting strep throat and just sore throats in general. She missed lots of school, but since she had her tonsils removed, she has had perfect attendance 2 years straight. No more sore/strep throat.
I am not sure if you can still get it, but the chances are slimmer now.

You can, but your tonsils were removed because they were hanging on to viruses like strep throat. Now that they have been removed you will not get it unless you are exposed to it again.

You certainly can. You don't need tonsils to get strep.

I was so lucky as to have my tonsils grow back. Not like they were by any means, they're just small lumps. I saw a specialist and he said they're called tonsilar tags. So now, I can get strep and tonsilitis.
