Its perfectly normal. All babies are born with squashed noses so that breast feeding is easier. Its natures way of making sure the baby does not suffocate during breast feeding. It will change. Dont worry.
For instance, just to show you... look at my husbands baby picture:

And him at high school graduation:

... I still joke with him though and tell him that he must have gotten mixed up with some other kid at some point in his childhood.... because he looks nothing like he did as a baby.

RE:
Our newborn's nose is very wide. It looks like it has been smashed. Is this something that will change?
He is almost 3 weeks old and his nose still looks too wide like it has been smooshed inwards. Both my wife and I have thin noses(not small just thin), so we are wondering where it came from, or if it just got compressed during pregnancy and will pop out. If it is just wide that is fine, he is...

Oh my! This is normal! I always thought that newborns look like little toads when they are first born! Give him abou 2-3 months to see if it pops out. If it doesn't you may want to talk to his doc about possible sinus problems. But have no fear, your little toad's nose will be just beautiful. It's when they get older and lose that baby face that you get upset!

Yes it is normal
It is for when they are nursing they can breath easier.
Just give it some time and your baby's nose will change

Congratualtions!
All newborns have funny little feature that will change in time. His nose will change with his face as he gets older. It is really nothing to worry about.

It is possible that when he was in the woom his face was against the uterus and if that is the case then yes...it will change. Don't worry about it in about 3 weeks he will look like a completly different baby!

Nice question. but I think the answer is very obvious, just look around in the streets, you`ll hardly find any flat wide noses, while by newborns its very popular... got your answer?!
