First off we live in a republic not a democracy. Voting is important but it is only the beginning of your civic duties. Unless you meet and share your views with your elected officials you are part of the problem.

Democracy is not a cure-all. But it does help prevent civil wars. The US has had only one civil war in its history. If they did not have the right to vote, don't you think there would occasionally be uprisings by desperate people who are in a hurry to change things? As it is, those who are upset with the system always have the hope that things can change through the voting procss, so there is no civil war, and you can continue to enjoy the comfort you have.

I think voting is very important. It is the only true say that any of us non politicans really have. If is a right given to us and I truely beleive that if you don't vote then you have no right to complain about who gets elected. Another thing, there are so many people who don't vote and they say "my one vote really don't matter that much". Well just imagine if everyone who said that voted.....that would be thousands of votes...that would make a huge differance in the outcome....not only is it a right we have I truly feel that it is a duty we all have....so go and vote...do your part.

Every vote technically counts..can you imagine if eveyrone says what you say? Well ....sometimes things happen when you do vote..I think republicans have a way of getting most votes..it sucks!
