a squared security centre does a free 30 day trial which will find and fix da problem.
Run the indepth scan.

I wrote down the little beggers exact place on the hard drive aswell. When re-booted I found the files on windows explorer and deleted. The main one is in a windows application so dont worry it wont stop anything if you delete it.

I also wiped the deleted items completely with cyberscrub privacy suit just to be sure.

Hey presto, that bloody baloon is gone for good.

Hope this works for you.

I had this once and to remove it I followed the instructions in this url and its clean again. I also ran the adware tools and other virus scanners after. Make sure you virus definitions are up to date. If you have Norton don't always rely on Live update, go and manually download the latest signatures as its easy for hackers to hijack the checker and the defs will not be updated.

ps after you have cleaned your machine check your process list for isamonitor.exe if thats still there then you will not be clean

Download AVG free and SpyBot from the following links, run a full system scan and the virus will most certainly be fished out. Update both of them before scanning.

1. AVG:

SpyBot Search and Destroy: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot_Search_and_Destroy/1043809773/1

It's worth your friend getting an expert to check his computer out at:

http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0

Register, go to the Hijack This Forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, get him to give a brief description of his problem (like you've just typed) and post his log there. The guys in there are fantastic and trustworthy and will guide you through in getting rid of anything nasty from his computer. Good luck!
