I have a 2005 toyota rav 4. I never get a straight answer from the dealership. They also say it I don't have the oil change at their place or a toyota dealership then it also voids the warranty. Is this bull?

No it wont void the warranty if you dont do the 30,000 check up and you DONT have to get your oil changed by them. They just want you to so they can get the $$ and see if they can find something to fix under warranty because they get big bucks for that. I would take it in and let them check it over at least once before the warranty runs out though!

Sounds like a lot of bull to me as well. For oil changes, the main thing is that you document via receipts exactly what you had done and when. Unless Toyota's warranty policy specifically states that you must take it to their dealers you should be good to go just about anywhere.

As far as the 30k check up, that is more of a gray area. Some manufacturers do have a sneaky little clause that may void parts of the warranty if you do not have this service done. Again, ready the terms of the warranty very carefully.

With regards to actually having it done, it may be of some benefit, but I have never kept a car that I've had it done on long enough to state whether it was a useful service or not.

Don't believe any crap. If the warranty says something, it's a contract. If you break the contract, your warranty will be legally voided.
