Our company cancelled the Christmas party a few years ago because it "offended" the Jewish and Jahova Witness people. They also cancelled any mention of Halloween (no decorations allowed) because it "offended" "some" people..... All Birthday celebrations stopped because they could not offer "diet" cake or "no sugar added" icecream (NO LIE!) This really happened.. This is a bit overboard isn't it?

My company doesn't do that; and I agree with you on your company.... that's way too much. I don't think I'd like working there.

That's flippin' ridiculous. People are so afraid of offending people anymore. I think people are waaaaay too sensitive.
I'm a Christian and people offend me daily (including on Yahoo Answers) but I'm not out there suing anyone.

What contains my options is that some distance too a lot of human beings commence having little ones without idea as to what's in touch. initially, a ideal set of human beings have first dedicated themselves one hundred% to the different individual; they ought to develop into thoroughly self-a lot less. each and every supplies him/herself to the different with the peace of mind that the different is doing likewise. this would not regularly ensue. If it does no longer, no little ones should be extra into the relations. in elementary words after that's favourite that each and every figure is carefully given to the different, then even as little ones are born, each and every figure supplies their complete soul anew to each and every newborn. in the right, a real useful relations is composed in elementary words of selfless human beings. This effects in the authentic element of my rant right here: the perfect way that my spouse and that i found to finish this with newborn toddlers sparkling into adulthood is to truly recognize each and every newborn from beginning above and previous each and every different individual in existence. the newborn learns that a figure's love overshadows anybody and all different issues. From that social gathering (the perfect instructor is social gathering), the newborn learns genuine love, believe, and recognize. Doing some thing that hurts a newborn destroys this kind of relationship. yet I truly have considered moms and dads manage their own little ones worse than a criminal or sewer rat. even as a newborn is conscious that the very those who in the finest act of love extra him/her into existence do no longer LOVE them, who in each and every of the international will love them? And right that is my keystone: we raised 3 little ones into adulthood and not in any respect did any of them ever do a unmarried, solitary challenge to reason my spouse or me a second of grief. There has never been a harsh note exchanged between any little ones and figure in this relations. So, even as there might want to correctly be a international of people who will disagree with our attitude to newborn-elevating, who between those can declare this kind of challenge in all honesty? i visit continually say this, "i won't be able to imagine Jesus hurting a newborn in besides. Why could or not that's ok for a newborn's own figure to no longer keep on with His social gathering?" and that i'm an atheist.

I think that is a bit too far. My company makes me take a cultural diversity/sexual harrassment class every 3 years but that's about it.

Yeah, some people take it too far, and it seems that California is leading the way in such endeavors.

Start your own company, run it the way you like, it affords you ever more options.

i actually think they're doing great! first of all... if you want to celebrate something, do it in your home, not at work.... why do we need to celebrate any of those things at WORK? and i don't hear anybody complaining because they don't celebrate Hanukkah or they don't allow Muslims to pray at 6 pm facing the sun... why do we have to be involved in "christian" celebrations? keep those in your house!
by the way, if you remotely know the origin of Halloween, you wouldn't want to celebrate it either
