I remember when there was no CD's, all we had was a mouth organ and a stick, what a laugh it was. This one time I was champing away with the old mouthy and beating the dog with the stick to get the right note and it was really quite delightful. Shame it went and died on me. As for the first ever album to be relesed on CD I don't know. But who cares anyway. As long as i'm still champing the mouthy i'll be alright.

Ok I am not sure but one rumor is when Philips and Sony developed the compact disc format in the late 1970s, they specifically set its maximum length at 74 minutes to ensure that a single disc could hold all of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

babyeddieuk is right. Brothers in Arms didn't come out until 1985. 52nd Street was released on CD in 1982, when CD players first hit the market in Japan (they reached the U.S. early in 1983).
