Aww I do really want to like Tim Burton as I appreciate the dark tone of his films but I never like the actual picture as much as I'd want. That probably doesnt make much sense! lol
Visually The Nightmare Before Christmas is amazing but I found it kind of boring. I think I'd have to choose Beetle Juice just for the sheer madness of it.

The high point for Burton, in my opinion, was the period from 1989 to 1992, covering Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns. The first 2 films I mentioned are his peak, though Edward Scissorhands is certainly the most noticably gothic and 'Burton-esque' out of those 2. Batman Returns was interesting primarily for the sets and its Edward Scissorhands style cold look but I preferred the variety, the great set-pieces, the gadgets, the characters, the music, the lines and the warmth and humour of the first film.
If Tim Burton was only known for one film, it should (and probably primarily will be) Edward Scissorhands but Batman is still my personal favourite as it doesn't compromise on having a blockbuster feel either, with a great performance and lines from Jack Nicholson.
Unfortunately, some of his films, such as Sleepy Hollow and even Mars Attacks! have felt like they could have been better.
I must admit that I have not seen the Corpse Bride but it does seem a little too close to The Nightmare before Christmas in visual style to get my interest. As for Charlie and the chocolate factory, Burton and Depp weren't paying attention when they said that they regarded the Gene Wilder version as being overtly sentimental and not true to the book. Gene Wilder played a far more interesting, charming Wonka and the songs were great in the earlier film too.

I like Tim Burton's films. His whole visual style is based upon a silent German film called "Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari" from the days before talking films. It is well worth seeing for any fan of Tim Burton.
I loved Nightmare Before Christmas, Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride.

I love Tim Burton. My favorite movie of his is "The Nightmare Before Christmas" because Christmas and Halloween are my two favorite holidays. I also liked Sleepy Hollow. He is very creative and has a wild imagination. His movies are creepy and erie but so well thought out.

I quite like his take on Planet of the Apes. It's not as good as the original but it's his own unique perspective on the film so it's better than other director's could do. It's probably not his best film but I really enjoyed it.
