2% of men are gay and 6% have had sex in the last year according to a study just looked at .This means that there are 24 men in congress having sex with other men .That means there must be at least 4 republicans at any time that are engaging in some kind of same sex relations .

WHO CARES???! Aside from the odds being against Foley being the first gay legislator, and the Kinsey Report, estimating that at least 10% of the US population is gay (now being hotly disputed by gay-bashers)...the question remains: is FOLEY LYING TO SAVE HIS ***? Furthermore, even if he IS gay, that's not excuse. Finally, statistics about pedophiles, which he IS, show that the overwhelming majority of them are WHITE and HETEROSEXUAL! SO, Foley's claim holds almost no water. They are fixated on CHILDREN, with some preference toward either boys or girls (as the recent killing of the Amish schoolgirls illustrates-the killer had intended to molest them, but didn't get a chance). The pedophile is NOT usually homosexual, even if he targets boys...he is interested in CHILDREN.(1)
According to one site: (http://www.press.uchicago.edu/Misc/Chicago/404811in.html ), in an interview w/David K. Johnson, author of "The Lavender Scare: The Cold War Persecution of Gays and Lesbians in the Federal Government" : "From the 1930s to the end of the Second World War, Washington D.C. offered a fairly benign, if not hospitable, environment for gays and lesbians to live and work. The city was growing rapidly, thousands of jobs were being created in the federal government,".
So, long before Foley "outed" himself, it was openly discussed that gays were part of the government, in many capacities. As Johson states, The Cold War frenzy over "Communists" and just about everybody else who was NOT Roy Cohn, included gays, much the same as it gays were included in the list of people the Nazis chose to persecute, then eliminate (beginning with mentally retarded people and working their way up to 6 million Jews).
(1)In on study of Massachusetts prisoners convicted of child molestation, 82% were heterosexual, with about 19% claiming to be bixexual. In another study by Dr. Carol Jenny in Denver, "...researchers have taken different approaches, but have similarly failed to find a connection between homosexuality and child molestation. Dr. Carole Jenny reviewed 352 medical charts, representing all of the sexually abused children seen in the emergency room or child abuse clinic of a Denver children's hospital during a one-year period (from July 1, 1991 to June 30, 1992). The molester was a gay or lesbian adult in only 2 of the 269 cases in which an adult molester could be identified – fewer than 1% (Jenny et al., 1994). "*

There have been several others including James West, one of the more prominent ones I can think of who was also accused of sending naughty emails. (Although those allegations were later proven to be false) I think this is what hiding in the closet does to people. It distorts reality to the point that some people think they can get away with anything. I think Foley is fraud, myself. He's trying to use any excuse he can come up with as a defense. I'm buying none of them. There's a big difference between gay and pedophile. Being gay, molested and alcoholic doesn't give you license to make inappropriate sexual advances to minors.

He certainly is the first to admit that the christian church was responsible for his deviant behavior.
Can you believe these guys? They will dishonor anyone to make a point. This bible-toting freak didn't feel it was necessary all these years to out his 'abuser', but managed to do so as soon as he is outed.
I think the Republicans have lost all moral authority.

No politics here.I will be disappointed if the American people fall for such stupid and shameless excuses as being molested as a teenager. He has to pay the price and be labelled a sexual predator.
Politics can wait.We are talking about immorality. If people blame their actions on childhood molestation, alchohol and mental issues,an the society falls for that, then there is still a long way to go.
We must rise up and condemn such excuses and declare them irrelevant in the event of criminal offences.
