I paid for info from the land registry which told me the deeds changed hands in 1997, but can I find out more info than this?

You should be able to go to the County Court house in the County the house resides and find out any and all infomration you want, as all of this is public record.

I'm assuming that you are in the uk, If you go into Yahoo property there is a facility there to search for previous owners, selling prices etc.
Go on the yahoo main page, click on all yahoo services, then its under homes or property. G'luck

Try the website UP MY STREET They will give you local info about nearest schools etc, also the price it was sold for but not who sold it to who.

you can get all the information about the property from the land and properties registrar office.
