On the contrary, most of us have a sense of security that is frighteningly relaxed. There are a few nut jobs in tinfoil hats with stockpiles of guns who think the government is watching them through their TVs, but for the most part daily life goes on with no thought to the idea that something like 9/11 could ever happen again.

The vast majority of Americans are not paranoid. the world focuses on the ones that are and we just happen to elect alot of them to public office. So I guess you could say we hire people to do that for us.
