There apparently is a little hole around a pipe or something.

Garden centers carry a product that the slugs will eat and then die. Just tell them what you need. If you can find the hole they're coming in, put the stuff OUTSIDE the hole. If you can't find it, just put the pellets INSIDE....they will find it.

I like killing them with beer. Fill a shallow dish with beer....the slugs will crawl into it, get drunk and drown. I've seen hundreds of em drowned in a dish. Don't just dump them on the ground, though.....many aren't dead.....they're just passed out. When they sober up, they'll crawl away to bother you another day. Flush them. I'm serious!

I had this exact same problem and discovered it was that they got up the fall pipe for the washing machine, from outside by the drain. We stopped using the washing machine for half a day. I put a thin layer of resin around the end of the drain pipe and the drain cover, I then covered the resin in salt and let it dry. (Do this on a dry day). We also now put salt in each wash load so the drained wash water is full of it, it does no harm to your clothes! NO MORE SLUGS! Trust me it works!
A drain cover helps too and if you layer that in salt or sand they won't get in!

Boil a kettle full of water. Pour it into a large container. Add loads of salt and stir the solution until it all dissolves. Next, add flour and make up into a thin paste. You can also add a drop of food colouring to disguise your paste against woodwork, bricks etc. All you have to do is apply it to the infested areas - the slugs will do the rest!!!

You could try putting salt around the bottom of walls where the flloor meets the wall. It seems your utility room is a damper place compaired to their living areas. They can't manage dust from the fire (once cooled)
Pop along to the local council envirnment/health dept they might have a sure fire way of getting them to stay where they live.

Because slugs have no skeleton, they can squeeze through any shaped hole. Salt will kill them. Sprinkle this round the doors, windows and any other ways in.

Are there any gaps under your doors? By pipe work?

I have the same thing but with cheesy bugs/wood lice. They do laps of the downstairs toilet then conk out. Seems to be a mecca for suicidal bugs.

Buy slug pellets from your local supermarket. That will do the trick.
