If you don't want to be induced and your child is not in danger your physician cannot make you have an induction! Most woman go between 38 and 42 weeks, after 42 weeks an induction is usually necessary for the health of the child. Do not let them induce you against your will...you have the right to say NO!
And if you haven't dilated yet then the induction may not even work.
Try nipple stimulation, it worked for me. Have your husband or partner lightly suck your nipples and areola for five minutes, one at a time and 15 minutes in between. You can do it manually by massaging your areola with your thumb and forefinger. Do not continue to stimulate while you are having a contraction or after the contractions are closer then 5 minutes.
You can also try sex if your partner is male, the semen has something in it that stimulates the cervix and the progesterone that is created after an orgasm can cause contractions.
Good Luck...

First off, you don't have to be induced, I know doctors can put on the pressure, but in the end it is your decision. Your due date might be miscalculated, or maybe your baby just needs another week... don't let him make you think you have too.... OK so back to getting her to come out, try using an exercise ball, you can get one at walmart pretty cheap. just sit on it and roll your hips around, it can also help alot during labor... you might also try parsley tea. just boil some parsley in water, strain and drink. I would do like one glass per hour.... it doesn't taste great, but it is bearable....and it is very mild, it wont bring on super contractions like some things....as for the primrose oil I have heard that it works, usually your midwife would put it on for you, but you can probably do it yourself. Just be really careful, even if it is natural, it can be as harsh as the drugs they will give you... Good Luck! and awesome choice to go drug free! :)

Just because you lost your plug should not make anyone in a hurry to get that baby out. Not from what I know anyhow.
I will tell you that pepperoni pizza, extra spicy got my kids out when I was ready to have them. I think my body was ready too, this just seemed to help.
My last child, I took Castor oil, not the motor oil. This causes diarrhea though and is not comfortable. You will find it hard to tell when the cramping from the need to use the bathroom ends and when the contractions start. If you do this, drink it in juice. Be warned that you may not look at that juice the same way again though.
Good luck!

My Dr recommended sex (it didn't work). I don't know about evening primrose oil, but seeing how you don't want drugs for pain, I wouldn't think you would want to take the chance of side effects that it may have.
Whatever happens, remember that you are the Mom and you need to do what will be best for your unborn child. If the Dr wants to induce for the health and safety of you and your baby, let him.
Side note: you have had 3 kids naturally already, you have nothing to prove. If you must be induced, consider all of your options.
Best of luck!

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO LET THE DOCTOR GO AHEAD AN INDUCE BECAUSE SINCE YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MUCUS PLUG YOU AND THE BABY CAN GET A SERIOUS INFECTION. THE MUCUS PLUG PROTECTS THE BABY. BACK IN THE DAYS PEOPLE WOULD TAKE CASTOR OIL TO GO INTO LABOR. THE CASTOR OIL WOULD CLEAN YOU OUT AND CAUSE A LOT OF PUSHING. YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH THIS METHOD THOUGH BECAUSE PEOPLE BABIES HAVE FELL INTO THE TOILET. SO IT DEFINITELY WORK BUT NOT SAFE FOR EVERYONE. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT STAGE YOU ARE IN YOUR PREGNANCY. I HAVE SEVEN CHILDREN. WHAT'S CRAZY IS THAT THE FIRST FOUR CAME NATURAL. THEN THE LAST THREE WERE C-SECTIONS. I AM DONE NOW. ONLY WITH TWO OF THEM, I HAD TO USE PITOSIN. IT DID NOT MAKE THE PAINS COME HARDER FOR ME. MY THING WAS, IS THAT IT MADE THE PAINS START. PAIN DOES NOT FEEL NICE AT ALL, BUT YOU DO WANT TO HAVE A HEALTHY BABY. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ALSO BE SURE TO PRAY SO THAT YOU CAN MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION BECAUSE YOU DO NOT WANT TO WAIT UNTIL PROBLEMS ARISE.

Firstly your doctor can't do anything to you against your will and don't forget that.
Mothers in the old days did have pain relief which they found in herbs and flowers. Some herbs and flowers had more pain relief than the medicine we use today.
I have heard of evening primrose, but like everything else it is entirely up to the individual. What works for one doesn't necessarily work well for someone else.
I went 19 days over due with my son, and I know of women who go a whole month over. So don't let that doctor scaremonger you into thinking you have to be induced straight away.

I would express to my Dr that you are not in a hurry to have this baby. He is YOUR boss. Now........if your water breaks and no baby for a week.......not good. I am assuming that your bag of water is intact. Just loosing the mucus plug is nothing. If you really don't want to be induced, take flavored castor oil. It will not hurt you or the baby. It may start your labor, you can try it.
Good Luck and God Bless You and family with this new little life.

Have you stated to you doctor about not wanting to be induced? Most of the doctors like to induce only for their l behalf. Its easier on the doctor because he won't have to worry about being called out i the middle of the night.
As far as you doing something to start labor, I personally don't know anything that will help, just stay active/ My mother always swears to Castor oil. she done that with both of her children and started just hours of drinking some.

I don't agree. If the doctor wants to induce you should allow it. If a child doesn't come within a reasonable amount of time the placenta begins to break down and the child's life can be jeopardized. Then, there's also the chance of the baby having a BM and all that infection and troubles that way, too. You need to think of the health of your baby.

I was induced all three times with potocin, to get things moving.
I would ask if they give you potocin that they turn it downa bit once your body starts doing the work itself.
I had no meds as well, with my first. And for pain tolorence,I just took it one by one. And when times got tough, I had my husband refocas where we were going to be and where we were going.
