Warren Spahn, no question about it.

Whitey Ford did win 10 games in the World Series, the most
ever. He also lost 8 games, the most ever. He was a very good pitcher on the best team in baseball during most of his career; he certainly deserved election to the Hall of Fame.

Spahn is simply the lefthander with the most wins ever, winning games even on poor teams, winning games past 40 years of age.

Although Spahn won more games during his career, Ford has the highest lifetime winning percentage of any pitcher with 200 or more wins. Ford pitched in more pressure packed games and still holds the record for world series wins with 10. When the money is on the line "Slick" as Mickey Mantle called him, is the man I want on the mound. Whitey Ford "The Chairman Of The Board".

Whitey Ford obviously has a great deal more experience with pitching in the playoffs, but I'd still take Spahn as the answer to both of your questions.

I will say, however, that Whitey had a great career. His numbers don't match Spahn's because of a differene in their respective longevities, but Ford was great nonetheless.

Warren Spahn was better, I guess, simply for the fact that he
lasted a lot longer than Ford. He may not have a better winning
percentage than Ford overall but the man had finese and was
pitching in his 40's.

Even as a Yankee fan I would have to take Spahn as the better pitcher, though I definitely like The Chairman of the Board much more.

Between those two I take Spann. If I get any pitcher I take Bob Gibson.

I'd want both on my all time super team. For a seventh game....Ford, he had the playing under high pressure experience.
