What does the repeated school shootings tell us? Has it backfired on the laws? Is America so unsafe that citizens need to have to own guns? Or does the allowing guns actually compromise the security of the people?

I don't think so. That is alot of responsibility and most civilians show that they aren't responsible. If you can't get someone to drive the correct speed limit, or obey traffic signals, how do you enforce someone responsibly carrying a gun?

Also, What happens when that particular civilian has a really bad day? Watch out!

Thats a tough one to answer because the guy is right on one hand we do have one of the highest murder rates in the world but on the other you have plenty of reason to have one for self protection. Is that a viable way to say well I can just solve all disputes with a gun? NO. But, in the case that things have gone to the extent of no return. Then I would say yes use that as a VERY LAST resort if your life is in danger. Why do you think all police carry one? That should be the same respect that civilians should carry one with.

Yes. But America already allows it's civilians to carry firearms. 48 of the 50 states allow concealed carry, with only Illinois and Wisconsin denying citizens their rights. This is not only a right, it is a necessity. The only way to deter violent crime, is to fight back as it is not the job of the Police to protect you. And by the way folks, it is the Second Amendment that protects our right to carry firearms, not the First.

No doubt-yes, if you take guns away from the people, the government could do as they please with no worries of uprisings or revolts from the people. This is why we have the 1st Amendment. Our fore fathers new this. If only 10% of our population had guns , that's still bigger then any army the government has. I'm not a big conspiracy guy, but you never know.

I think at the very least all people should have to take a training course in all states to carry any type of gun. We sell guns all day long where I work and not one person needs to show any indication they know how to operate the damn thing, half of them are illiterate so reading the instruction manual? yeah not going to happen...it's kind of scary.

If they didn't, then several things would happen: The criminal element that already owns them illegally anyway would operate with further impunity, the huge number of citizens that believe in their constitutional right to bear arms for self defense and for sport would likely become a new breed of law-breakers, and there would likely be a civil war again.

It is too late to legislate against guns. It is also un-constituational.

What is needed is bullet control. That way when there is a shooting the bullet can be traced back to the point of purchase straight away.

This would not infringe on anyone's right. Gunowners would be free to hunt, practice target shooting, and also defend themselves.

Criminals, terrorists and crazies will aways be able to get guns. They don't mind breaking the law. making guns against the law only keeps law abiding citizens form being able to protect their families and them selves

We have the right too
Guns do not kill people.
The ignorance, jealousy of people is why people kill one another.
A gun is just a method of what they use.
If all the guns were destroyed in the world people would find another way. guns were not always here and there were still murders and killers then.

I think so. Without guns to protect yourself, you become a target. If we took guns away the only people that would have them would be gangs. If we had guns, no one would attack us as we walked down the street at night.

Yes, then when you have an argument in the street, you can pull out your guns and have a good old gunfight like you used to do over 100 years ago. What do you think? Just keep arming your paranoid country and soon you won`t be able to go out at night because of gunfights or is that happening already in certain areas.
