I was just wondering how common it is for women to not have high enough hcg levels to detect in pregnancy tests.. I have only been off the pill for one cycle and I am on "day 36". i.e I havent started my period, I have a lot more cervical mucus than I have ever had before, and my emotions are in heavy overdrive. BUT I have taken lots of pregnancy tests and still negative. Im not ready to try the doctors blood test yet... for fear I am halucinating!

So, anyone out there who was pregnant but it didnt show positive on your tests?

dont worry, i have taken many tests at home and they all turned out -, i had to just go in and have a blood test done each time as much as i hate needles it was the only way,but then again you may not be not getting your monthly friend can be caused by many things, and sometimes womans monthly friend was sometimes delayed or even stopped but use your best judgment.... mother of 3 and 28wks pg. with 2nd daughter......

Yes. With my first daughter I took 6 tests, 2 at the docs offices, before the final one showed positive. The first few were negative but showed a faint line. I *KNEW* I was pregnant though, b/c I got carsick 1 week before my period was due. I have never been carsick in my life. Turns out I had to wait 2 weeks for the levels to be high enough to pass a 'pee' test. A blod test should confirm or deny; after that ask for an ultrasound to confirm or deny. It could be something else that mimics your period. Go see your doctor!! Good luck!

P.S. I have been prego 6 times, and I get car sick on the 3rd week everytime. Weird, but true!

Yes, it's possible. Even though some pregnancy tests say they can detect days before your expeected period.....for each day farther away the accuarcy drops significantly. You either have to wait until closer to your seriod date or go to the doctor. If you were properly charting your cycle then you would already know based on your temp and mucus, etc. go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive. My Doctor recommended it to me and after 1 year of trying I got the book. It worked the very next month. It turns out that my timing was wrong due to mis-information. I hope it helps you, too! It's not only about getting pregnant. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

Only if it is early on. Your HCG level cannot remain low and stay pregnant.
