I agree with the other women who recommended "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Its a great book, and it does talk about weight gain and gives dietary guidelines to ensure your baby gets the nutrition it needs.

If you are strongly opposed to gaining ANY weight during pregnancy, I would think it might not be a good thing for you to get pregnant. Your baby needs good nutrition, and its the greatest gift you can give your unborn baby! Besides, your belly is going to get huge no matter what you do!

The book I mentioned above emphasizes you can easily get back to your pre-pregnancy weight once you have the baby if you are careful about what you eat. I know plenty of women I work with you look as great now as they did before they had their babies.

My husband and I have 8 youngsters and we under no circumstances used a condom EVER whilst I used to be pregnant! We had loose, strain-loose (no concerns of being pregnant), and wild intercourse! The "wild" stuff tamed down for the duration of the final two-three months as I surely received greater and matters converted a few, however then inside a couple of weeks (four-6) of offering infants we went again to our prior a laugh occasions! We hardly ever, if ever, used condoms or some other start manipulate measures (as a result the eight youngsters!) and we under no circumstances had infections, STD's, and so on. Of path, we' ve been monogamous and nonetheless are after being in combination for nearly 27 years.... We additionally had house births and no issues~so do not fear! If that were an problem do not you feel your health care provider or midwife might have warned you? And any health care provider who tells you to make use of safeguard is filled with crapola for the reason that no person, and I imply NO ONE ever used safeguard like that within the historical days and folks often had two-20 youngsters! Have a laugh, reside your existence, and revel in pregnancy. Pregnancy is a natural and average occasion, it isn't a disorder! The contemporary scientific arrangement at present treats ladies and being pregnant as whether it is an unnatural state that's a disorder and have got to be monitored. And incidentally, once we first received married, we had intercourse 21 occasions a week! Twice at night time, as soon as within the morning earlier than my husband left for paintings. If I used to be going to abort from the semen, then it might have occurred. This situation went on for a minimum of the primary 7 years of marriage. My husband has bogged down now~we are older, and we simplest fiddle approximately 7-10 occasions a week. So phooey on considering semen is a concern!

The only book I read was "What to Expect When You're Expecting" which was very comforting because you go through so many changes.
I didn't worry about the weight gain or pounds too much, because I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. As long as the baby is healthy everything will be fine.
