I think the right to bear arms was taken away because the powers that be fear armed blacks. Once the law stated every one had to be treated equally the government took away gun rights in areas with large black populations. Am I on to something here?

Anti-gun laws are unconstitutional. But I would check my facts if I were you. The right to bear arms (while it has been restricted and covered in red tape) has not been taken away. The only way you can lose that right is to give it away by commiting a felony.

If you read materials about the debates and thinking of the those attending the Constitutional convention, and the Constitution itself you will see that the right bear arms appears with other rights guaranteed us to protect us from our government. This right was given us because the founding fathers sought to insure we could hold off any effort by the government to overthrow our system of government. Handgun were not then nor are they ever going to be an effective tool against a government controlled army. Efforts at gun control (I am a strong supporter) are not racist in that they apply to all citizens in areas where legislation is enacted.

The right to bear arms was not taken away. Safeguards have been put into place to make people wait before buying handguns but rarely to these apply to other guns.

I don't think you are on to something. I think you are simply another person trying to stir up racial tensions and ignoring the real massive problems facing this nation today.

I'm a black woman living in an urban area. And I can't comment on what you've stated only because the anti-gun laws were issued for everyone. Not because of the fear of black people shooting anyone or mostly each other. With everything that's going on in not only this country but on this entire globe----when laws are passed, they're also ignored by many. Anyone of any color can get a gun, and I'm not talking about it being legal either. Ok so you feel that blacks in urban, ghetto areas have the guns. I don't want to put words in your mouth but from what I'm reading I'm pretty much taking it like that. I'm in NJ now. However, I've lived in Texas for six years! I just got back home to my born state. Let me tell you who's got the guns-----and we're talking the white man now! Texans (on the seat of their trucks while driving) law cannot conceal a weapon! Ok? Also Arkansas! (same deal) Oklahoma! You can purchase a gun from Wal-Mart in these states! So as to your last question about being on to something about only blacks having the guns. No you're not on to anything! Because every single damn color man, woman and child has them, or can get them whether it be legal or not! And please let's not forget Columbine, A school in Colorado and the recent incident in an Amish Town, all shot by white men! I'm not trying to be testy with you. I'm just trying to point out that these incidents these horrible horrible acts of murder is being committed by all colors and not just by blacks!

no, i dont think your on to anything. im white, but lets be honest, when was the lastime you heard of a an arms dealer or a gun related crime that didnt involve a minority. it isnt a coincidence. i live in a town where the whites are a minority now. ive had guns pulled on me and never by a white guy. take it how you want it, but i really dont think that it is race related. anyone can make anything out to be race related if they really wanted to.
