My husband is a teacher, I think the answer is not to arm school officials but to have drills on how to lockdown your class room in an emergency. Practice these drills like other drills. ie fire, tornado ect. No many schools especially in rural areas do not have armed security personel. You just need to be diligent in your own schools in house security.

I think it is something that the principals should do. Before they are able to carry it, principals need to get a concealed carry license and take a course which is a couple of days, but well worth it. There also needs to be an armed officer assigned to the school. Right now, my children's school doesn't even have the doors locked, and we are in an area that everybody hunts around here.

I think we should have the right to arm ourselves regardless of where we are. my sister worked in an office where a boy ran in he was being chased by some bullys .my sister went outside and found 6 big boys chasing this boy if she had not had her gun with her im sure they would have attacked her and beatenher as well. At all costs we should ;protect ourselves because the police cannot get there on time sometimes. So yes principals ,teachers or other school personel should have the right to arm themselves and ;protect themselves at all costs.

That is a tough question because maybe the school leaders are not all upstairs either. But in reality, I would think that it would level the "playing field" if there were some adults that had them on campus.
What is sad is that we just keep giving these people pills and counseling and keep them around. I am not talking about the first time offenders, you do not see that coming all the time, but those who have a history. Why is it that we take our trash out of our homes but we keep the trash (criminals) in society!?

No. If anyone is going to have a gun on school grounds, it should be a certified, trained security officer or police officer. Having a gun in the principle's office is just asking for trouble.

ONLY if they have the proper training to use it, and IF it is locked up securely. For the most part, there are school, Police Officers stationed at most schools these days, (if not all) so there would be no need for school administration to be armed.

No.
That is a bizarre and ridiculous idea.
It also places an undue strain on the principal, who will need to be certified with the weapon and need regular training.
Not to mention that he/she would be devastated if they shot an innocent student.
Do you think the world would be safer if EVERYONE carried a weapon?
Let principals do their job and leave law enforcement to the authorities.
A better solution would be improved security systems and patrols at schools, imposing school uniforms, and improved communication links between classrooms, the principals office and authorities.

I think they should carry guns. I also feel teachers should have stun guns, tasers and or pepper spray.I would like to see parents volunteer their time to patrol the schools . The problem is so isolated it would be difficult to prevent a determined nut from doing harm to our kids .

Is the answer to these horrible tragedies putting more weapons in the school? I don't think so. More guns in the hands of untrained people could very easily man more innocent deaths.
