Sprinkle some baking soda on it and throw it in a plastic bag. After one week take it out and get it professionally dry cleaned. It will not smell bad anymore. Do not wash wool, only dry clean.

real wool sometimes smells bad, thats all there is to it. wet wool is really bad sometimes. Kinda like wet dog??

You can try something called "wool-wash", and i've found that at walmart.

I've had really bad experiences with Woolite, so i caution you against that stuff. I've also used something called "lavendar water" and that might help the smell factor, depending on your wool.

EDIT!!! People keep saying that you cannot wash wool. You can!! It's just not a great thing to do often, and if you do it, you need to use COLD water and NO agitation. Using warm water and agitation is going to felt your wool item, unless its "SUPERWASH" and then it should not felt.

I wash wool all the time. I knit my own wool socks, and have various wool hats and scarves, not to mention sweaters and the like. I just wash it CAREFULLY.

It's a little late to tell you this but you shouldn't have washed it probably. Dry cleaning is the safest route when it comes to sweaters. Sorry!
