Here's the kicker for the Illusionist.
First, it's based on the man who was the inspiration for Houdini.
Second, everything done in the movie- is based on what was/and could actually be done in the 1890's.
No camera tricks. That's what impressed me the most.
The kids- and the people.
Now go back and watch the movie closely...
The kids who run up to him on the street asking for money- now look at the ghost kids..
Likewise the first apparition.
The clues are all there, that's why it's a really well done movie. A mystery that gives you all the clues.
Or her line when he's with her as kids- "make me disappear."
A really great movie.

I really liked it, too.
It was beautifully photographed ... and though Ed Norton was really good, I thought Paul Giamatti stole the picture!
I'll probably get the dvd when it comes out so I can see it several more times.
The last three movies I saw were "The Illusionist," "Hollywoodland," and "The Black Dahlia" and by far, "The Illusionist" was the best.

I enjoyed it, but I thought it could've been edited better. I felt like the mystery and "the reveal" could have been set up and executed more dramatically than it was.
I love Edward Norton. I do, but I though he was a little bit boring in this movie. Paul Giamatti was wonderful though, he made the slow-ish pacing of the movie speed up.

I watched it some nights in the past. It had to be the most effective action picture I easily have ever considered. i'd have loved for my kin to observe it, yet i recognize they does no longer. I cried lots of the time after he killed himself. i have not cried like that for a lengthy time period. I often times ask your self if it really is going to take some thing like that in each kin to modify issues. I in actual reality wish it would not.
