It's the song which overstayed its welcome by being overplayed. But in order to be overplayed, it had to be a relatively popular song. An additonal element which makes a song unbearable is the repetetive refrain which hammers into you skull and doesn't leave. My list goes something like this:
- "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen
- "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits
- "Achy Breaky Heart" by that cowboy with mullet
- "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice
- "My Sharona" by those nerd dudes
- Half of Beatles' songs
The list could go on an on... :)

"When a Man Loves a Woman" - 60s/70s soul ballad.
Very high straining melody that felt totally nasal like a bad cold and gives me a migraine everytime I hear it. And way too depressing for a romantic love song.
And I totally hated the Meg Ryan movie that used it as the title tune.
