I have a similar problem - try getting a good knee support. Most good chemists sell them. There's good stuff for relieveing pain in joints called 'Mineral Ice'. Only sold in USA but if you know anyone visiting there, they should be able to get you some.

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain. My husband and I are having the same problem on our tiled kitchen floor. We are still considering what option to buy. I did an internet search for "anti fatigue floor mats". The first option is super cheap and could easily be purchased at home depot or lowes.
