Kawasaki or Tokyo were meant to be the main targets. Kyoto was ruled out, because even the ignorant Americans appreciated the Imperial palace too much, and the figure that the Emporer was to the Japanese. The first bombing went ahead on the 6th of August, 1945.
As Cloud cover was too bad over Kawasaki and Tokyo the "Enola Gay" was diverted to target "c", and there dropped "Little Boy", a 4000kg atomic bomb with 64kg of enriched uranium, upon Hiroshima.
On the 9th, "Bockscar" carried a different style device, a 21 kiloton plutonium core, implosion style bomb, and dropped it over Nagasaki.
Both devices were, obviously devestating. It should be remembered however, that the incendary bombings of Hamburg, Dresden and Tokyo were far more devestating than either nuclear device.

"Little Boy" is the nick name given to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.

Kawasaki was the next target but it was changed to Nagasaki due to the cloud cover that took palce due to "Little Boy".

Just three days after the bomb was dropped to Hiroshima, the second atomic bomb called "Fat Man" was dropped to Nagasaki.
