This post needs to be one and one half inches square. The wall thickness can vary and so can the minimum yield strength. The minimum yield strength I am working with is 50,0000 psi. I prefer to stick with this if possible. The post will be securely attached at the base and will be cantilevered out six feet. This post needs to hold at least 260 pounds without bending. What wall thickness do I need for this post? What is the formula to determine this?
