Anal sex was used by women many many years ago in order to satisfy their husbands / boyfriends and avoid pregnancy...

No, there is a distinct seperation between the anus and the vagina. The anus in no way connects to the uterus, and sperm cannot penetrate accross the area. It is safe, however there are risks with anal sex, such as tearing of the anal membrane causing some bleeding. Risk of transmiting disease is also increased due to the increased due to the increased absorbtion of the anal tract.

well, I supose if sperm leaked out, and spilled onto the vagina, in theory I supose that could happen, seems unlikely to me.
