I continue to lose my Verizon Internet Connection. Nothing has changed on my end ant they tell me that the line looks good from their end. My modem (westell 6100) will work for a few moments and then lose the connection. The DSL light will go from a solid green to a flashing green and the internet light will go from solid green to flashing green to completely out to red. This happens all in about 90 seconds. If I recycle the components I might be able to get back on line, most often I need to wait a few hours.
This has been going on for 5 weeks and I have talked to Verizon tech support at least 15 times and I always get a different answer as to what it may be. The only thing that remains constant is that fact that I can't get any help from Verizon, and I can't get on line.

Sounds like modem is getting hot.

Go into systems and check settings, also ask Verizon for another modem.

Check modem board, also check fan in puter.

I had the same problem and found out it was the modem, the same one you have, that was going bad. Verizon sent me out a new one and it worked fine. Now I have FIOS which is very reasonable with price and is faster than dsl and cable and I have had 0 problems. I suggest you get FIOS as they give you a whole new router and no modem is required for fios...that's right, no modem! :-) I am extremely pleased with fios. I believe the problem is not your computer or any settings but the dumb modem is probably getting old. I would either: A: Tell Verizon your modem is bad and they are required to send you out a free one or B: Get fios

Go to http://onlinehelp.verizon.net and read up on fios also

With DSL moisture is a problem so it might be that at the location of a recent connection. Also the slightest change in the line between you and the verizon switch location can cause a problem. I had a similiar problem and it took a tech who was willing to actually look at the connections made in the recent past to correct the problem. Its been a year and I have had no problems.

The problem could arise from your perosnal computer, or make sure that the dsl modem is correctly installed. For example, dont put the dsl adapter for the phone into the modem. (the small white adapter), or try a different phone line. If all esle fails, then switch to a different ISP.

If you can get online sometimes but not others, it is the modem or it is Verizon. Get a new modem from Verizon. If the new modem does not solve it, then bother Verizon about it constantly. They might have to send somebody out, but they are obliged to do that when other troubleshooting doesn't work....
