Wow. Almost all the films mentioned are very good films IMO.

I think the worst one that won the Oscar was "The Greatest Show on Earth."

I thought "Midnight Cowboy," "Chicago," The Godfather," "Reds," and "American Beauty" were wonderful moveis. LOL

Different strokes...

Titanic and Lord of the Rings are terrible. Chicago was pretty bad too and Silence of the Lambs is kind of sick!

I'd have to go with "The Godfather", especially when you put it up against some of Scorcese's gangster movies, like "Goodfellas" and "Casino".

Never saw "Midnight Cowboy", but I'm reminded of an interview of John Malkovich when he was talking about working with Dustin Hoffman on "Death of a Salesman". Apparently, Hoffman was constantly trying to lecture Malkovich about "the craft" of acting. Eventually Malkovich got fed up with him and said, "F*ck you! I'm supposed to take acting advice from the guy who lost the Oscar to JOHN WAYNE in 'True Grit'?!?!"

I didn't see most of the movies on the list, but I think that it would be fun to try and see them all. As for the ones that I have seen, I would have to say "Gladiator" and "Titanic"

Titanic: the special effects were terrific, but the story was cliche. As the ship was sinking, if Leo and Kate were to go below deck one more time...aargh!

I am going to go with Annie Hall. I know it's a classic, but OMG it did not deserve a best picture award.
