An alien invasion from a species which are more powerful than us, yet it is possible for us to defeat them. This will create unity among mankind; Think Independence Day or Terminator.

The disunity among mankind is due to our differences; Such as language, culture, religion, race, etc.. If we can find a way to "bridge" those gaps then our world will be a better place.
Star Trek to me has been a source of inspiration for many of my ideas. Here are some that are possible: A universal translator small enough to be discreetly inserted in the ear, be it implanted or just an earpiece. A transporter eliminates the great distances that separate us. Colonization of other worlds to make more "space" for us. I could go on forever lol.

The one thing that will most certainly change the world is when people of ALL nations stop forcing their beliefs on others. People have a right to choose their own religion, worship and believe in their God without any reprisals from anyone.

A sharp decrease in pride. The ridiculous ideas that come with saving face, keeping it real, defending your honor or any other example of overweening pride, have been a thorn in the side of humanity for eons. The ability to say "I made a mistake," seems to be the most rare of all human attributes. Our concern to be seen as perfect leads to wars, lies, murders and abuses. Here is how to make it better realize that how other people feel about you is only as important as you feel about yourself.

LOVE. Not love in the sense of sexual love, but rather an acceptance of those who differ from us in whatever way. Even if we don't see eye to eye with the person we can love him or her as a brother or sister, be tolerant, respectful, and show civility. The power of one can be contagious, and move mountains, so start loving!
