Cirrhosis of the liver comes to mind. Alcohol poisoning also comes to mind. Becoming an alcoholic is also a disease.

The prime disease of alcoholics is cirrhosis of the liver. Alcohol has been linked also to heart disease but conflicting medical information ranges from...a glass of red wine a day is good for you ...to the opposite. Beware of facts. They seem to change from day to day.

The long-term health effects caused by the consumption of large amounts of alcohol (both by alcoholics and non-alcoholics) may include:

Death from many sources, primarily alcohol toxemia; having a blood alcohol content that is too high for the body to tolerate.
Cirrhosis of the liver, a chronic disease characterized by destruction of liver cells and loss of liver function: it has numerous complications, including bleeding from esophageal varices
Pancreatitis, or inflammation of the pancreas
Acute and chronic heart disease, including dilated cardiomyopathy
Polyneuropathy, or damage to the nerves leading to poor sensation of pain and impaired mobility
Psychological effects such as depression, insomnia, anxiety, and suicide-risk
Increased incidence of many types of cancer: breast cancer, head and neck cancer, esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer
Nutritional deficiency: folic acid, thiamine (vitamin B1) and several others
Sexual dysfunction

It can cause alcoholism which is a disease. Over time it can cause permanent damage to your liver, your memory. It can also ruin your personal relationships.

alcohol consumption can and will cause brain damage, cirrhosis of the liver, jaundice, death just to name a few.

alcohol destroys brain cells, drink enough and you destroy your mind...drink enough and you destroy your liver, drink enough and you can kill yourself.
Personally, I limit myself to two ounces maximum in a day.
