both [a] and [c] (both are the same)

According to the pattern y=mx+b, y must be positive, but we have -y, so we multiply all the equation in one - to obtain positive y. So the equation becomes:

- [ x-y] = - [4]
-x -(-y) = -4
-x + y = -4

Now we have positive y, but the equation doesn't look like the pattern yet. In the pattern, y is on one side of the equation and mx + b (m and b can be any positive or negative numbers) are on the other side (if y is one the left side, mx+b must be on the right side and vice versa). So we just need to move -x to the right side (this will change -x to +x). Hence:

y=x-4 or x-4=y
(Note that m=1 and b= -4)
