Why are they so opposed to it? I know some of you far left loonies will say well the poor, elderly and disabled won't be able to vote...
Back in reality, if you read the bill, if they can not afford the ID card the government will GIVE it to them
Democrats also say it will discourage people from voting...
Again back in reality, photo id's don't discourage people from having a DRIVERS LICENSE...

Democrats know that the only way they can win an election is by stealing it so they are totally against any ID bill. In Milwaukee we had the smokes for votes campaign where the dems would buy the homeless cigarettes and then drive them to the polls to vote! unbelievable what these lowlife libs will stoop to just to win an election!

I am not a democrat, but we shouldn't have more restrictions on voting, as we don't have enough people voting now anyhow. DId you know that polls are more accessible in Iraq than they are in inner cities in the US? If there wasn't a need for legislation to protect poor people, there wouldn't be any. But just so you can understand the barriers that causes, will the voter ID stations be located in the suburbs? Is their free local accessible transportation from the inner city to that suburb? While there, will the inner dity folks be treated fairly? Or will people with certain names have their registration 'lost' the same way a few ballot boxes form BLACK communities in FL were lost during the 2000 elections? I hope you are seeing the point...if not there is a saying that goes 'for those that believe, no evidence is necessary, for those who don't, no evidence will suffice'. BTW, why do you want voter ID cards? I'm assuming that you have voted, and realize that you have to be registered, and provide a picture ID when voting, and that your vote is anonymous (by order of the constitution)

Because when you do not have to show ID, there is no way to stop fraud. Remember the WA governors race, when the Democrat won the third count after some votes showed up in Seattle. That county had more votes cast than registered voters.

The basic issue is this: Everyone who studies the issue agrees that this would get rid of a small amount of voter fraud at the expense of disenfranchising an even larger number of people.
Opposing these programs is just simple math; the cons outweight the pros.

Its the concept of a national identity card that many find incompatible with the ideals our country was founded on.
You know the slippery slope theory that is always spoken of ?
Well, if they have your name,address, photo, thumbprint, social security number, medical history, library history, credit history, bank info and where you go on your computer....well, do you trust them to a)guard it b) never misuse it to get you to do something you don't want to in the name of whatever they can come up with. Do you trust the ensuing administrations to be competent? Will they misuse it if they are in an opposing party to yours?
We have always assumed a right to be secure in our homes and property and this is a simple invasion of that with huge potential for misuse.
Besides, in this country we have a very low turnout rate at the polls, most people sit on their ****** and, honestly if anyone wants to go to the trouble that most of our citizens can't be bothered to do...go and vote....then maybe they deserve it more than we do.

Voter ID cards is just moving us one step closer to a police state. When you register to vote at least here in CT you have to show ID with proof of address.That should be good enough.
