I love to decorate rooms, but I cannot do more of the house than I've already done. I just moved, and so I don't have any friends' rooms to decorate. Where is the best place to buy mini furniture? I'm going to make just little sample rooms because I want to be an Interior Designer when I'm older. What would be good (but not tacky or too difficult) for the room itself? Cardboard? Plywood? I know Michael's Craft Store has mini furniture, but I don't know who much I should pay for each piece. Please help me!

We have hobby lobby here. I know of a person how made a whole farm set out of cardboard and sand paper for shingles and some plywood. I helped him get the stuff and this store was really helpful and not bad in price.

ebay is a great place to find inexpensive miniature furniture, as well as many other on-line stores such as http://www.miniatures.com/hbs/global/Index2.asp?T=shopping&S=products&START=61&END=70&I=aa_CatalogPage.asp&C=3310

Checking into an on-line store will give you an idea of prices. You can visit the NAME site (National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts) at www.miniatures.org and check their list of on-line stores, or their state listing of stores for one in your area. Local shows are also a good place to find things -- or, if you are not in a hurry, try your local flea market.

As for making the room itself, foamcore (from a hobby/craft store) is a good, inexpensive alternative. Also, there are many roombox kits available at reasonable prices at miniature stores. You may also want to check if there is a club in your area to get together with others with the same interests.

If you want to see what can be done in miniatures, check my 360 page and my photo album (NOT the bathroom remodel -- the second album has all my miniatures to date). If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to email me! Welcome to the world of miniaturists -- hope you learn to like it as much as I do!!
