posted a question last night ( you can click on my name to go see this question if you want :P ) in short a freind of ours helped out my son at the playground when he didnt really need the help. my main question was ( and i am sorry for not posting it correctly ) should i be upset for the way she spoke to my boyfreind? ( my sons father ) after her leaving the bench we were all sitting at , helping my 4 year old son when he didnt need it she came back to the bench. my boyfreind told her that our son could of helped himself. ( my son even whimpered a little after - as if to say " i want to do it! " )she b1tched at us for " be lazy ". ( i have a broken foot and use crutches ) she really focused her crap on my boyfriend though. the two of them pretty much fought about the situation for about twenty minutes. my boyfreind has raised my son for 4 years and has done a great job. she just totally embarresed him in public, told him he was a bad father, and even tried telling him how to better take care of OUR son. should i be upset at this freind? or should i just let it go?

An interesting factor that comes to mind in this question is this: How long has this person been your friend? Have you known her longer than your boyfriend or no?

The only real reason that question comes to mind is this: If you've been friends with this person longer than your boyfriend then there may be a different set of boundaries in her mind than there are in yours. She may consider that she has your ear (and thus your approval) more easily than your boyfriend. If you've been friends for a while she may believe that the female bond that exists between you is stronger than the bond which holds you and your boyfriend together.

I would suggest sitting down with her and calmly explaining first why what she did offends you. If she is open to the discussion, take it then to the realm that you have TRUST in your boyfriend, and APPROVE of his chosen parental methods. You must make it clear to her that you have just as much faith in the parenting decisions that he makes as you have in your own. If she still refuses to understand then it is time to make it clear to her that you cherish your relationship with your boyfriend quite greatly and do not appreciate the tension that she brings into the situation when she behaves as she did.

Talk to your friend about it and let her know that you two obviously have different parenting ways and that you feel that your boyfriend is a good father and that you would appreciate it if she would not talk like that especially in public.
