1. Depending on what you're printing and the quality you're printing at I'm sure that would be right in some cases.

2. If you have a look on eBay often you'll find great bargains on compatible cartridges.

3. Refillable cartridges are a grey area. They can have an adverse affect on your prints if you reuse. It depends if you buy cheap ones or not usually.

4.If you've printed a good few pictures then that would be fair play. Compatible cartridges won't likely be $24 though.

5. That depends on how much the cartridges are and if you're happy with the printer. You can pick up a good Canon or Epson cheap enough nowadays and buy compatible cartridges for them fairly cheaply that work as well as originals.

1.. No that's not normal.
2. Probably only at Dell. Not sure though.
3. I personally wouldn't use refillable.
4. Don't know.
5. I bought an HP printer (I'm not home, so I don't know the model number) at Wal-Mart couple years ago for about 100.00.
It uses the HP 56 (Black and White) and HP 57 (Tri-Color) cartridges (which I also buy at Wal-Mart). The printer also scans, copies, etc. I am extremely happy with this printer and the cartridges do last me up to a year. Now if you're using this printer in a business, I wouldn't recommend this printer. You need to go to a more heavy duty model, but for home use the HP printer can't be beat.

1. With some printers, yes it is normal.

2. Search the internet for "inkjet refills." Many places selling refill kits also sell ink cartridges compatible with many printers.

3. See the previous answer.

4. Yes, it is too expensive.

5. Yes, I would suggest shopping for a more common brand name printer as more places will sell the ink cartridges at a range of prices. When shopping for a printer, you may also want to look at reviews to see what they say about ink consumption.
