Yes, sports here can be violent. A football player was just suspended for 5 games for stomping on an opponents head. I think each sport has violent spurts. It's also common in high school sports - but the violence is usually among parents and/or coaches.

There is the odd flair up in the USA but is so small compared to soccer, the thing I like about rugby is when the fans are able to get on the field at the end of the game they get autographs from the other teams as well,Its the admiration for the players as well as their own team that makes it well worth going to see.

Umm not really. Never heard anyone say I'm going to the baseball, basketball, football game only to be told "don't get involved with any riots". NO, Americans tend to not riot at sporting events. Maybe a superbowl or World Series every so often but probably never two years in a row.

I doubt it cos the away fans would have to travel so far would they?? I think part of the mentality behind football violence in the uk came from away fans travelling up and down the country during the sixties/seventies...

Just as much sport violence as anywhere i suspect.

Probably more "accidents" due to our american hero type attitudes and policies?

You ever seen ice hockey? That can get very nasty - especially on the ice.
