I need a laptop. I'm an engineering student. Which would be better - a Toshiba or an HCL. Or should I go for another company? Please refer the models and the cost.

The Toshiba Quismo is the best multimedia laptop, however as an engineering student (like myself) I would prefer a smaller, lightweight laptop. The Toshiba Qusimo is about $2000 and its heavy, however if you are looking for the best price and value, then I recommend the dell inspiron e1505. I got this laptop for about $1500, and it has very good specs. Intel Core 2 Du 2.0 Ghz (4mb cache), 2Gb RAM, 256mb nVidia GeForce 7300 Go, 15.4 Widesceen, DVD-+RW and it weighs only 6lbs.

On the other hand, the best brand name companys are LENOVO, Sony Vio, or Alienware(the best)

Get a MACBook. I live in Bangalore, and my dad just bought one at forum mall. They cost min. Rs 77,000. But it's worth it. You can even install XP onto the macbook. Macbooks come with a built in wireless receiver(internet) a built in camera, and built in mike.

I think there is a HUGE tax in India on laptops.
Better come to Malaysia and buy one. It wont cost you much more, seriously.

Be Indian, buy the HCL. Toshibas are too clunky.
