It is a scam. They will ask you for money, once they have got you believing you are about to be rich, Thus is a variant of the Nigerian 419 Scam or Advance Fee Fraud. A typical reason they give you is that the payment needs to be notarised so it can be cleared for oayment. Report it to the police, don't reply, don't give your bank account details and don't part with a penny. Especially via Western Union (their favourite method).
Look up Dutch Lottery Scam and 419 scams on the internet.

This is the biggest and most well known internet scam. They will ask for your bank account number, social security number, then clean you out. If it sounds fishy it usually is. Plus what are the real chances that you have received a large sum of money from someone you never met? How'd they get your info if you never met them? I repeat, IT IS A SCAM.

ALL THINGS TO DO WITH NIGERIA ON THE COMPUTER ARE A SCAM !!
Now you have been told.... block their emails further and DO NOT send any one money EVER. If you WIN ANYTHING you do not have to pay for it!
Tax time is different but has nothing to do with claiming a prize!

Nigeria uses the Naira or the kobo as currency - not dollars. This is a scam.

Dear Sir or Madam:
If you have won money, tell them to send it to you
in a Cashier Check.
Do not send money to them.
Do not give your bank account number to them.
Chances of this being a scam are 99.999995 %.
For example, how many Nigerian Lotto tickets
did you purchase last month?
