I would say connecting with people and something that a person (and many other people) can relate to, as they are far more likely to read the material book etc if this is the case!
Theres nothing better than reading something that another person has written, and thinking, "ive been through that!" or; "im not alone in thinking or feeling that way!"
Or..something that will make a difference (e.g alter peoples views for the better etc)
Or...something that will create an impact on peoples lives and memories-something that is original or has never been approached before!

Directing the product at and reaching your target market..(If you already know particular areas of society that will get you the most sales, direct your product towards those people)....good luck.
